What the rain brings...

This summer has been filled with kids of all ages taking refuge from the summer thunderstorms.
Teen aged boys and the 'habits' they have gathered along the way make it hard to keep clean...
Say cheese!
10 yr olds who come in from slip sliding to find Space Balls on TV...
while two 8 yr olds and a 6 yr old with a hose think it funny
to 'rain' the teenager's bedroom through the window...

The house is filled with wet grass clippings, wet towels covered in mud, and cupboards that empty as fast as they're filled. The coolers on the deck are filled with ice, waters and drinks in all shapes and sizes to keep the refrigerator from opening every 5 minutes (or so it seems).

I laugh as I think of our life before the kids came to stay. The Man Child was last to leave the nest. The nest was clean and quiet, except for the visits, picnics, and gatherings. There was always time for creating and a space all my own to create in. This was a 'cool' place to visit, to hang out, to explore and now it's home. Yes! Life has changed.
